Overview
Martha Zolanski (pronounced zo-lan-skee or zo-lan-sky) is an alter ego of Nicki Minaj and the mother of Roman Zolanski. She was first introduced during the Pink Friday era, gaining recognition for her appearance at the end of "Roman’s Revenge," where she scolded Roman and Slim Shady, demanding they “wash their mouths with soap” and go to bed.
Visually, Martha was presented in the "Moment 4 Life" music video, where she appeared as a fairy godmother guiding King Nicki on her wedding day to Drake. Martha’s eccentric British accent, whimsical style, and motherly-yet-unhinged personality made her a standout among Nicki’s many alter egos.
Martha also played a role in "Roman Holiday" on Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded, commanding Roman to take his medication and calm down. She reappeared during Nicki’s infamous Grammy performance of the same track.
On Sean Kingston’s "Born To Be Wild," Martha delivered a playful verse alongside Nicki and Roman, showcasing her surreal and theatrical side.
In December 2023, Nicki announced via Twitter that Martha had “died of old age.”
Personality
Martha Zolanski was a layered character. At times she embodied a strict, overprotective mother who tried to tame Roman’s violent tendencies. Other times, she leaned into her eccentric humor — making strange jokes, playful grimaces, and embodying over-the-top British nun-like mannerisms in interviews. Her mix of discipline, theatricality, and comic relief made her both a guardian and a satirical caricature.
